Fraud Prevention System for Credit Card Industry


Duration: 9 months.
3 months for Prototype Development. 6 months for complete development, testing and commissioning.

Technologies used: USSD, SS7 stack, RedHat Enterprise Linux, C/C++, MySQL, Tomcat, JSP.

Brief Summary:

Frauds using duplicate or stolen credit cards was on rise, which was harmful for Credit Card industry. This system was designed to give an option to the credit card holders to approve the transactions over his mobile phone, through USSD message. Every transaction initiated by the credit card holder shall be verified with customer feedback as well as the presence of customer in that cell.

The complete Solution Engineering including Requirements Anaysis, Design, Development, and Implementation was done under the able guidance of Ranjeet Wadhwani, Senior Manager - Technical Services. The architecture included using off the shelf SS7 stack (HP Opencall) and building USSD services on top of it and integrating it with Bank Servers (running on AS400) and GSM network of service providers such as Digi, Celcom.

The servers had been specially designed to be Highly Available using fault tolerance techniques.
